The Challenge
Tim was racing HYROX Pro in Berlin as an athlete for BOSS Parfums, and he needed a reel for his own channels that carried the partnership without turning his race day into an ad. One asset, 30 seconds, live within days. The brief was tight in both directions. BOSS needed the bottle recognisable in the first three seconds, present across multiple scenes, spotless, and never associated with sweat. No competing logos in frame. At an event wall-papered in sponsor branding, with Tim's own kit and body tattoos carrying other partners. No spraying on camera. No messy backgrounds. And Tim needed it to look like his actual race day. He's a Pro athlete competing at the front of the field. He wasn't going to stop and reset, and anything that felt staged would read as staged to the people who follow him.
Our Strategy
The fragrance became part of the preparation. Race bag, kit laid out, the last moment of focus before walking to the start. That's a real ritual, so it didn't need acting. The race itself stayed clean: no brand inserts, just the competition. Product coverage happened where it could be controlled. The BOSS activation after the finish, the bottle handled properly, the walk through the fragrance shower. Clean surfaces, clean glass, controlled backgrounds, away from the chalk and the crowd. We shot four to five separate fragrance scenes rather than the two or three required, so any approval round could be answered without going back to an event that no longer existed.
The Results
That number matters more than it looks. Branded content almost always underperforms an athlete's organic posts. Audiences can feel when something is doing a job for someone else, and they scroll. A sponsored reel that pulls numbers like this one did means it never read as an ad. That was the whole point of building the film around Tim's real race day. The fragrance was part of his preparation, not an interruption to it. His audience got a race day film with a brand in it, not a brand film with a race in it. One reel, one race, delivered and approved inside the go-live window. Race stills alongside it. The takeaway: Sponsored content only performs when it doesn't feel sponsored. We shot the ritual instead of the endorsement and it landed like organic.
