The Challenge
Within the Fence Line is our self-initiated documentary filmed in the heart of Zululand, South Africa following the dedicated conservationists fighting to protect Africa’s most endangered wildlife against the threats of poaching, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict. The challenge was twofold: to capture the emotional depth of these stories in a way that resonated with global audiences, and to amplify the voices of conservationists who often operate out of the public eye.
Our Strategy
Immersive documentary storytelling blending intimate interviews, on-the-ground action, and breathtaking visuals to show both the urgency and hope of the conservation mission. Human connection at the core focusing on the relationships between conservationists, wildlife, and local communities, highlighting the shared challenges and victories. Content built for reach festival-ready long-form storytelling paired with short-form cutdowns for social media, trailers, and awareness campaigns. Purpose-driven narrative framing conservation not just as saving animals, but as preserving ecosystems and forging human-wildlife coexistence.
The Results
The documentary has been widely recognized for its emotional storytelling and global relevance, positioning it as a powerful awareness tool for conservation efforts. With a public release planned for early 2026, the project demonstrates Mauja’s ability to create high-impact, purpose-driven content that lives across cinema, digital platforms, and social channels reaching diverse audiences and inspiring real-world action.
